The Gold Coast is a beach lover’s paradise. My home growing up, here you will find warm weather, exciting nightlife and golden sandy beaches lining the coast for kilometres. The main reason for visiting the ‘Goldy ‘would be to relax and enjoy the sunshine.
WHERE TO STAY
With luxury apartments, hotels, condos and homes lining the coast there is ample options for places to stay. The main areas the attract most tourists would be Broadbeach, Surfers Paradise and Palm Beach. For a quieter beachside experience I would recommend Currumbin or Burleigh Heads.
WHAT TO DO
There are many beautiful pristine and uncluttered beaches to choose from, some of the best being Burleigh Beach, Currumbin Alley, Tallebudgera Creek, Greenmount and Surfers Paradise. The water is clear, the sand is clean and summer continues almost all year round. Take caution however, and always swim between the patrolled yellow and red flagged areas, these beaches can be dangerous with strong currents tides. Some other local attractions are the theme parks, Movie World, Wet’n’Wild, Dream World, Sea world and the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. There are many coastal walks one popular walk is the Burleigh Hill walk through the nature reserve and along the beachfront. Of a night revellers can enjoy the club scene at Surfers Paradise. There are various natural attractions to see, Purling Brook Falls walking track at Springbrook National Park, Binna Burra walking track at Lamington national Park and the Glow-Worm caves at Tambourine Mountain. Or enjoy the natural swimming rock pools at Currumbin. About an hours drive south you will find the iconic and world famous Bryon bay, you can opt to stay here or just do a day trip. An hour north of The Gold Coast is the city of Brisbane, home to many museums, galleries, shopping opportunities and dining options.
SHOPPING
Robina Town Centre a large-scale suburban style mall, offers all major brands and funky eating zones such as ‘The Kitchens’. Pacific Fair in Broadbeach is a large resort style shopping mall styled as an entertainment precent, with lounge areas, games, theatre facilities, shops and dining opportunities.
TRANSPORT
You are best off hiring a car or relying on taxis, buses run but can be unreliable at times. There is a light rail service that runs from Helensvale to Broadbeach.
