Riad Touda – Marrakesh

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Marrakech: Riad Touda

Tucked away in the maze of Marrakech’s ancient medina lies a true Moroccan treasure  Riad Touda. From the moment we stepped through the traditional wooden door and left the city’s hustle behind, we knew we had stumbled upon something special. It was late at night when we arrived, but we were warmly welcomed, guided to the serene courtyard, and served traditional mint tea. Sitting there under the starry Moroccan night sky, listening to the distant hum of the medina, we immediately felt at home.

The Unique Design of Riad Touda

One of the things that truly sets Riad Touda apart is its stunning design  a harmonious fusion of traditional Moroccan artistry and modern elegance. While many riads are filled with bright colours and intricate patterns, Touda takes a more refined and minimalist approach.

  • Beautifully appointed rooms with stucco walls and hand-spun Moroccan rugs

  • Stained glass aperture windows overlooking the courtyard and plunge pool below

  • Authentic tiled Moroccan bathrooms that feel both luxurious and traditional

  • A peaceful central courtyard perfect for sipping tea or relaxing after a long day exploring Marrakech

This thoughtful mix of old and new makes Riad Touda a sanctuary. It still embraces the essence of Moroccan craftsmanship, but in a calm, elegant way that feels timeless.

The Warmth of Moroccan Hospitality

The design was breathtaking, but what really made our stay unforgettable was the warmth of the people. The manager in particular was so welcoming and kind  he even invited us to stay with his family in his home village, a gesture we will never forget.

He also helped us choose the right tours for sightseeing. Even though we’re not usually ones for organised tours, his recommendations were spot on. We ended up taking a camel safari into the desert, and it was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip.

A Taste of Morocco: Breakfast at Riad Touda

Every morning, we woke to the aroma of freshly brewed Moroccan mint tea and coffee drifting through the courtyard. The breakfasts were a highlight of our stay:

  • Homemade bread and pastries

  • Fresh olives, cheeses, and spreads

  • Local fruit and yoghurt

  • Strong Moroccan coffee and, of course, mint tea

The food was simple, authentic, and delicious — the perfect start before a day exploring the medina.

Why Stay in a Riad Instead of a Hotel?

Staying in a riad is very different to staying in a hotel. A riad is a traditional Moroccan house with an interior courtyard, and each one has its own unique charm. Here’s why we recommend choosing a riad like Touda:

  • Atmosphere – Riads feel intimate, personal, and authentic compared to large hotels.

  • Architecture – You’re surrounded by traditional Moroccan craftsmanship and design.

  • Connection – Staff are often like family, offering advice, guidance, and local tips.

  • Location – Riads are usually hidden in the medina, giving you a true local experience. This Riad is in a great location, close to the El Fna market centre and in the middle of the Medina. So you can walk everywhere. Read more about this below.

For us, this added a whole new dimension to Marrakech. Instead of just visiting, we felt like we were living a slice of Moroccan culture.

Location: Right in the Heart of Marrakech

Another huge advantage of Riad Touda is its location. It’s within close walking distance to the bustling Jemaa el-Fna market and the heart of the medina. After wandering through the colourful souks, it was always a relief to return to the peaceful calm of Touda’s courtyard.

Whether you want to shop for spices, watch snake charmers in the square, or simply soak up the energy of Marrakech, the riad is perfectly positioned.

Highlights of Riad Touda

To sum it up, here are the features that make Riad Touda stand out:

  • Warm, welcoming staff who go above and beyond

  • Peaceful courtyard with plunge pool

  • Traditional Moroccan breakfasts

  • Walking distance to Jemaa el-Fna and the medina

  • Authentic atmosphere, far from the chaos of big hotels

Final Thoughts
